OBJECTIVES
To collect, process, analyst, store and distribute accurate geodetic, tidal, astronomic, and gravity data in accordance with the departmental specifications and work procedures.
To provide comprehensive service in the fields of geodesy and astronomy at a level adequate to meet the users and national needs.
FUNCTIONS
To plan and implement:
GPS control surveys
Precise digital leveling techniques
Second class leveling
To carry out computations and astronomical observations to determine positions on earth, the direction of Qiblat, prayers' times, new moon observation and other religious related matters.
To operate and maintain Tide Gauge Stations and publish annual Tidal Prediction Tables and Tidal Observation Records.
To perform the following geodetic projects:
Global Positioning System (GPS) project for the determination of Geodetic and Scientific Networks
Geodetical Vertical Datum projects that include Tidal Observation, Precise Levelling and Gravity Survey Projects.
Collaboration Projects with local and overseas institutions and agencies such as GPS Observations with STRE, GEODYSSEA Project with EC-ASEAN and APRGP Project with PCGIAP
To identify and perform needed research in the field of geodesy for mapping and scientific purposes.
To prepare, archive and distribute records and documentation of all geodetic data.
